The high-current connector for applications in traffic engineering

The RockStar® HighPower modular system is specifically designed for reliable signal transmission in high-current applications in motor power cabling, cyclone braking and carriage transfer in transport engineering . The system consists of one-piece crimp contacts, insulating sleeves, insert mounting frame and a multi-part die-cast aluminum housing with IP68, making it dust-proof and protected against dripping water. The connection withstands strong vibrations and offers reliable protection thanks to high-quality insulating sleeves. The die-cast aluminum housing is impact resistant, corrosion resistant, and allows optimal use of space in the vehicles with low weight. In the event of damage due to stone impact, only the housing must be replaced, not the entire connector.

High-speed with HighPower

In the Velaro® D high-speed train from Siemens, power is transmitted using RockStar® HighPower connectors. The modular system features securely crimped wires and pluggable connections, making it ideal for such a demanding transport application. Specifically designed for RockStar® HighPower, the multi-piece die-cast aluminum housing is highly impact and corrosion resistant with IP68 / 69K rating in the event of rockfall damage at very high speeds of the Verlaro® D. The characteristics of the connector system for high-current applications make the HighPower connector from Weidmüller a product whose development is oriented towards practical applications down to the smallest detail. When using this connector, the end user benefits with improved productivity during the installation and maintenance of the Siemens systems. So the Velaro® D and HighPower can travel together at high speed.
